The parts of Medicare Simplified
Hospital insurance
Inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, and hospice. Usually premium-free if you've paid Medicare taxes long enough.
Medical insurance
Doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and durable medical equipment. Carries a monthly premium.
Medicare Advantage
An all-in-one alternative that delivers your Part A and B benefits through a private carrier, usually bundling drug coverage and extras.
Prescription drugs
Standalone drug coverage. We check your actual prescription list against each plan's formulary before recommending one.
Medigap supplement
Not a "part" — a separate policy that sits alongside Original Medicare and picks up costs it leaves behind, like coinsurance and deductibles.
Dental, vision & hearing
Often excluded from Original Medicare. Available as add-on policies, or already built into some Advantage plans.

Common questions
Nothing. There is never a fee for our service — carriers compensate us directly, so your premium is the same whether you work with us or enroll on your own.
No. Most of our Medicare reviews happen at the client’s kitchen table. We’ll come to you anywhere in the Pittsburgh area, meet at our Moon Township office, or handle it by phone — whichever you prefer.
HBS is an independent agency. We represent both local and national carriers and compare plans across all of them rather than steering you toward one company. Ask your advisor for the current list — it changes as carriers enter and leave the market each year.
A Medicare Advantage plan delivers your Part A and B benefits through a private carrier, usually with drug coverage built in and a network of doctors. A Medicare supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare and pays the costs it leaves behind, with no network — but you’ll typically add a separate drug plan. Which is better depends on your doctors, prescriptions, and budget. That’s the first thing we work through with you.
Yes. The advisor who enrolls you is the one who reviews your plan with you every year, answers questions, and helps with claims. No call center, no reassignment.
