Group benefits for Pittsburgh-area employers of 2 to 100.
Our group division specializes in analyzing your business’s insurance and recommending the right product at the right price. We represent all local and national carriers, and we evaluate every viable one when seeking quotes for your coverage.
Our commitment to you
- Service. We assist you and your employees in resolving claims issues and answering benefits questions. You'll get our toll-free number, your Account Manager's business card for every employee, and bulletin board posters so your team knows help is a call away.
- Market knowledge. We keep you current on new ideas and concepts in the benefits arena to help you control costs while retaining valued employees.
- Compliance expertise. We advise you on insurance compliance issues such as COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and coverage mandates.
Because we’re independent, we compare plans across every carrier we represent — not the single company a captive agent is contracted to sell.
Where are you starting from?
First benefits package
You’re hiring and want to offer real benefits for the first time — and need to know what it costs and what’s required.
Renewal came in high
Your carrier’s renewal jumped and you want to know what the rest of the market would charge for the same coverage.
Headcount is changing
You’re growing (or shrinking) and aren’t sure what the ACA now requires of you, or what you’re eligible for.
What's in a group package
A benefits package is a set of separate products, and you don’t have to buy all of them. Here’s what we can quote for your group.
Core coverage — what employees expect
Group health
Medical coverage for your team, quoted across every local and national carrier we represent.
We compare across carriers
Dental
Preventive, basic, and major services. Usually the most-used benefit after health.
We compare across carriers
Vision
Exams, lenses, frames, and contacts. Low cost, high visibility with employees
We compare across carriers
Hearing
Exams and hearing aids. Often overlooked, increasingly requested.
We compare across carriers
Income protection — what employees are glad to have
Short-term disability
Replaces a portion of income during a temporary illness or injury.
We compare across carriers
Long-term disability
Replaces a portion of income when someone can't work for an extended period
We compare across carrier
Group life
A base level of life insurance for every employee, usually with the option to buy more.
We compare across carriers
Which combination fits depends on your budget, your industry, and what it takes to keep the people you’ve hired. That’s the conversation, not a form.
How it works
Tell us about you
Your headcount, your current plan (if any), your budget, and what your employees have been asking for.
We compare carriers
Your account manager evaluates every viable carrier and builds side-by-side options.
Review your options
We walk through each plan in plain English — at your office, ours, or by phone — and flag any compliance issues.
Enroll with support
We run enrollment, hand every employee a card with a name to call, and service the account all year.
What to have ready
None of this is required to call us — but having it handy makes the first conversation much shorter.
-
Your employee census
Names, dates of birth, zip codes, and coverage tier (employee, spouse, family) for everyone eligible. -
Your current plan documents
Summary of benefits and the latest renewal, if you have coverage today. -
Your contribution strategy
How much of the premium you want to cover, or a budget to work toward.
-
Your business basics
Legal entity, industry, and number of full-time-equivalent employees. -
Your renewal date
So we can work backward and give you time to decide. -
Your questions
Write them down. People forget them on the call every time.

Common questions
Nothing. Carriers compensate us directly. Your premiums are the same whether you buy through us or go straight to a carrier — but through us you get an account manager and year-round service.
Possibly, depending on your size and current plan. The ACA sets rules around essential benefits, waiting periods, and — above a certain headcount — whether you’re required to offer coverage. We review your plan against current rules and tell you exactly what applies to you.
For most small employers, it changes the options, not the obligations. We’ll explain how the marketplace and the small-group market interact for a business your size, and whether either one helps you.
Rates change every year for every group. What we control is whether you see the whole market at renewal or just one carrier’s number. We evaluate every viable carrier before you sign.
Some small employers do, based on headcount, average wages, and the share of premium the business pays. We’ll tell you whether you’re likely to qualify and what to talk through with your accountant.
